The nature and scope of projects undertaken by Welsh Color & Conservation, Inc. varies extensively. Our involvement can range from

general surveys completed in a day or two to far more complex analyses and consultation extending from several months to several years. In a small-scale project, the analysis may involve only a few samples taken from a single room or architectural element and mailed to us for lab analysis. More comprehensive projects often involve dozens of samples that we take from numerous rooms and building features when we visit the site. In addition to the investigation of a structure's decorative schemes, including the colors, composition, and chronology of paints, wallpapers and other finishes, we also coordinate the conservation and reproduction of decorative painting. To provide a greater understanding of the nature and variety of our work, we present examples of our current as well as completed projects as described below:

Current Projects - We are always engaged in many exciting short and long-term projects. Instead of waiting until our work is complete, we offer you a chance to witness the details of our current participation at these sites. We will expand these descriptions and develop comprehensive Project Profile pages for these sites when our work is complete. Look for them in Featured Projects in the near future.

Featured Projects - Here you will find Project Profile pages with more information and illustrations about several of our completed projects. Each page includes a description of the site, an explanation of the scope of our work, and our evaluation of historic paints and finishes. To augment the text, we include relevant historic, restoration, or technical photographs as well as links to relevent sites for more information about the structure.

To visit either page, click on its title. If you have any questions, let us know by E-mail.
